Did you know that I cannot even pack a peanut butter & jelly sandwich in my son's lunch for preschool?
I certainly don't want my kid to be the reason another kid goes into anaphylactic shock, but still. This just seems crazy.
And back in the day I was the weirdo kid with ALL the allergies.
Curses to those poor peanut free kids who make this mama pack things like Tuna and Egg Salad that without proper refrigeration could you know make my kid yak all over those peanut free kids.

Next thing you know the only food they'll allow is Lunchables (if that is even considered a "food")

Hi there- I usually pack my daughter a "jelly only" sandwich- sad- i know so little nutritional value- BUT i agree with you on the whole lack of refridgeration thing. -- Angela G. (Richmond, VA)
That is fucking stupid! I swear, what's next???
I feel badly for the kids with allergies - but very few 'nut' allergies are airborn. If those kids would stop eating other kids' lunches and snacks....we could all avoid the plastic bubble trouble.
At my little one's preschool, it is dairy only (kosher) and with peanut allergy kid, and yogurt allergy kid....I send her with cracker's and fruit. She just wants a big fat Italian sub for lunch, but the meat is a no-no.
Lunchables are crap. I'm not saying that to put you down if that's what you feed your kids, I'm just saying. LOL It is hard, though, b/c some schools go waaaaay overboard. But I probably wouldn't feel that way if it was MY kid. But it's not, so yeah...that's a hard sell. Why can't things be simple like when we were kids?
Candy, I totally agree! Processed Crap to be specific.
Swirl Girl, Maybe the school has had a problem I don't really know but it's NUTS!
Mariah, My sentiments...exactly!
Angela G, Jelly only wouldn't work for us since he hates the jelly part :) But, my daughter would totally go for that!
there is a special table in the lunch area at my son's school that all the kids with peanut allergies has to sit at! Yikes! At least I can still pack that sandwich.
My daughter's school has a special peanut-free table too.
talk about asking for your kids to get picked on: "here, sit at the reject table, because you are a freak and can't eat normal kid food!!!!"
